Watch how Quicken for Mac helps you stay in control of your money with all your accounts in one place. Learn how we help you create a. Currently running Quicken 2014 will be upgrading to 2017 on latest version of Crossover Mac, presumably will install in a new bottle, does that mean that my quicken 2014 in its old bottle will still be functional. So do you back up your computer at all? If you don't then that is a HUGE error. It is not wise to operate any computer without a sound backup plan. Many experienced users on these forums have redundant backups because even backups can fail. I would reach out to Intuit to see what they have to say. If they cannot help you then you will be forced to use a substitute for Essentials. Personally I made the switch years ago from Intuit as their support Mac's is substandard. Personally I use Banktivity which can import your Essentials data files so you don't lose any of your critical info. If that interests you, click. AS stated, Quicken Essentials support from Intuit stopped in 2015 (maybe earlier). Anyway, it is certainly a dead product today. I had the same problem when I upgraded to Sierra. I read the details for Quicken 2016 and it looked good, ran on Sierra and would import Essentials files. I purchased it from the App Store and imported my Essentials data. Looks different and wanted to contact my bank and keep my data on an Intuit server. Java 6. So I returned it the following day. For the moment I have gone back to Yosemite (so glad I had a full backup) just so I can keep Quicken Essentials. I expect that there is code within Essentials that checks the OS version and prevents it from running on Sierra., not an Apple problem. I sure hate Intuit! I will try the suggestion made earlier in this thread because Sierra sounds great. After doing about an hour of surfing the web, I think the answer is that you can not open Quicken essentials anymore. ![]() ![]() You would have to buy the Quicken 2016. I did not want to do that because sure will have the same problem all over again later on. Also, I really hate quick essentials (it confuses me). So I went to the apple store and bought the Checkbook Pro for $19. Its about 1/3 of the price of quicken 2016 and gets great reviews. Looks pretty easy to use but to be honest I have not done any accounting with it yet. Will have to wait until some new bank statements come in. Still, very happy to get rid of quicken. I too determine you cannot open Quicken essentials if you update to sierra. I was running Quicken essentials 2007 so it is no longer supported anyway I choose to download Banktivity from apple store before I upgraded to sierra. I was able to transfer all my Quicken essentials accounts files to Banktivity very easily before I update to sierra. After updating to sierra,my Quicken essentials had a line through the app but my Banktivity app works great, and even if you don't connect it your banks;you can still use it like a register that will sync to Banktivity own cloud.and use it on several devices I have it on two iMac's and a iPhone which all syncs to each other with Banktivity cloud. You are not using apple cloud. It cost a bit more than i wanted to pay but keep all 8 accounts sync and accurate 🙂.
